Colorado Theater Guild Recognizes Billie McBride with 2013-’14 Lifetime Achievement Award
Since 2006, the Colorado Theater Guild has presented the Henry Awards to honor outstanding achievements in Colorado’s theater community during the past season. The awards are named for longtime local theatre producer Henry Lowenstein. Nominations are determined through a judging process conducted by more than 45 statewide theatre reporters, reviewers and assigned judges.
Very much like the “Academy Awards of Colorado,” one of the highlights of the Henry’s is its Lifetime Achievement Award. This year, the CTG recognized SHO’s very own Billie McBride! We are thrilled that Billie has been with us for three plays and stars in this year’s On Golden Pond.
Of course Billie was famous for her acting and directing long before she agreed to work with SHO. She was a Broadway star, appeared in a number of television series, and after relocating to Colorado, she became a mainstay of Denver theaters. Well recognized as an actor with numerous awards, she also is recognized as a director for adult plays and for her work at the Arvada Center’s Children’s Theater.
SHO is so lucky to have Billie perform for us! She starred in Chasing Manet, was our own Miss Daisy in Driving Miss Daisy, and the crustyOuiser in Steel Magnolias. She will star this year in On Golden Pond as Ethel Thayer opposite another noted actor and SHO alum, Lawrence Hecht.
Please join us in congratulating and thanking Billie McBride for sharing her talents with the Denver community and especially with SHO!!
